Have a roar-some time at Dynamic Earth this summer!

As the temperature heats up and the school holidays rapidly approach, we at Dynamic Earth have been busy, busy, busy planning a fun-packed summer events programme for all the family!

You’d better watch out though, as we are bringing the Dinosaurs back to life with our all-new “Design-o-Saur” activity!  Using the wonders of modern technology you can create your very own virtual Dino - personalising it by choosing its skin colour and camouflage via different iPad stations.  Your draw-rassic creations will then be brought to life before your very eyes, using clever ‘mixed reality’ technology – say cheese and take a selfie with your roar-some new friend!  But be quick and escape the ‘snap zone’ before you become dinner….!

Back by popular demand is our Operation Earth programme, developed in conjunction with the Natural Environmental Research Council.  Join Earthy on a visit to the Doctor, and find out how you can help our planet feel better again in an exciting, interactive show for all the family!  Intrepid little explorers can play giant Jenga to discover more about the food chain, and search for microscopic wildlife in our indoor meadow.  Or why not try your hand at piloting a drone using simulator software, and find out more about how scientists monitor the changes happening on our planet.  All these hands-on activities are FREE with admission to Dynamic Earth and run every day from the 30th June to 26th August (10:00 – 16:00)

Our “Summer (not) School” is also running over the holidays - budding explorers can join in the fun with our Learning Team and discover more about our local wild spaces.  Take advantage of the summer weather and get out and about in Holyrood Park!  Inquisitive trainee scientists can take part in team-building activities, experiments, and lots more outdoor adventures!  There are still a few spaces left for various dates in July & August - to check availability or make a booking, please get in touch with craig.smith@dynamicearth.co.uk

The ever-popular Dome Nights are also back for the Edinburgh Fringe 2018.  Return to Dynamic Earth after-hours, and experience our ShowDome like never before!  Sit back and relax in cinema style seats and travel back in time to the 1970’s - you will be immersed in a spellbinding, surround-sound experience, with visuals inspired by the sounds of Pink Floyd.  This year, we will be showing “Wish You Were Here” and “The Wall” as well as the phenomenal “Dark Side of the Moon”. These shows have been a sell-out during every run so far - make sure you get your tickets now  and don’t miss out on the musical journey of a lifetime!

As well as this jam-packed summer events programme, you can also experience Edinburgh’s best family visitor attraction.  Come along and cool off by our huge (and real!) iceberg!  Or, if the Scottish weather outside isn’t quite warm enough for you, you can feel the heat of a volcanic eruption and the humidity of a tropical rainforest.  Take a 4D flight over the biomes of Planet Earth (watch out for the Rhino!) and plunge to the depths of the ocean to discover the weird and wonderful wildlife that lives there.  Where else can you experience all of this under one roof? Dynamic Earth of course!
