Community Learning

We believe science is something for all and we strive to make that happen!

The Learning Team here at Dynamic Earth are proud of their work communities. Over the last few years we have been able to support many community groups in their learning, through a range of activities from tailored visits to the attraction to bespoke events and programmes. Science is something we can all be a part of and it can be a powerful tool in everyone’s development.

Our community learning programme is  varied and diverse, in the activities as well as the people involved. We have shared success through activities, celebrations and learning journeys as well as taking part in your events out in the community.

We have a dedicated Community Learning Officer who is supported by the wider team. Their job is to coordinate and develop the programme and identify opportunities for partnerships. Meaningful and effective experiences require careful planning, coordination and evaluation so that each group’s journey may take a different and best-suited course. All our projects start with a conversation  where we can learn about one another.

If you are a community group and think you’d like to be part of this please get in touch. You can contact our community learning officer here: communitylearning@dynamicearth.co.uk

Here’s what some of our groups thought this year:

‘Just wanted to let you know how much the group enjoyed the visit yesterday. All the staff we met were fantastic and so helpful. Our members ranged in age from 75 -93 and were amazed at your centre.’

“Fantastic day – learnt so much –thank you for a wonderful trip – I would not have visited here on my own"

"Amazing day trip out - would have never have thought about coming here – but its brilliant! – it’s a dreich time of year and to get out like this is fantastic"

‘I would like to thank you again for your organisation of ‘Playday with Edinburgh Young Carers.’ The day was a huge success and as a result of this experience so many things were achieved. This was a first trip to Dynamic Earth for a large number of the families and enabled Young Carers and their families to have one full day’s supported quality time together. For some of the 17 families it was the first [time] they had an ‘outing together in years’. Young Carers and their families made positive, lifelong memories together.’
